2006.
Has it already been 6 years since we thought the world was going to fall apart because our clocks won't know between 1900 and 2000? Time flies.
The thing with time flying is that you know it will give you some time droppings. I will be entering a fourth of a century's existence soon. A few days ago, my job announced that we can no longer wear regular sneakers (the end of an era, I know.) I had to retire some of my college clothes. I regularly drink coffee now (and its not even from [Green]bucks). Last night, I forced myself to go to the gym. I am sleepy by 10:30pm. None of these are bad things, but each in my opinion is telling that I wasn't where I used to be.
But some things I hope to keep the same - because after all, there is a 7 year old, and 8 year old, a 9 year old...all of them ages are still in me somewhere.
And then some things, I know will never change. Like my God. This soul, which experiences fleeting moments every single day, finds eternal joy in the One who never changes. It's incomprehensible--can you imagine something that NEVER changes? My very nature changes every second--I can't even pin down my own preferences some days. And to know that I have this unchanging God's love! Oh, even the most painful days are sweet with Christ.
Bring on 3006.

Sin and salvation
The concept of substitution may be said, then, to lie at
the heart of both sin and salvation. For the essence of
sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence
of salvation is God substituting himself for man.

A Year Ago: "Far, Quite Far Away"
Originally posted November 11, 2004
so what do you do with yourself
when youre stuck in a rut
of everyday mundane occurances
like doors that open and shut
you try to lift your eyes
to the hills, to the mountains
you tip on your toes
and keep looking even through rain
you fly a kite from where you are
out the window of your box
you run up to the fence
without shoes, no doubt
you see another box
far, quite far away
what you dont see is what
will make you stay
for there's a person there
who's stuck in a rut
of everyday mundane occurances
like doors that open and shut
he tries to lift his eyes
to the hills, to the mountains
he tip on his toes
and keep looking even through rain
he flies a kite from where he is
out the window of his box
he runs up to the fence
without shoes, no doubt
